This week Phoenix got his 3rd set of braces. He was super excited to see them because he got to pick out the design on the straps....and if you know my son he loves loves dirt bikes, so needless to say he loves wearing his dirt bike braces! :) We also got his s.w.a.s.h. brace it attaches around his hips and has a strap for each leg. This brace will help him keep his legs from crossing when he walks. As of yesterday he hated the thing, but then we have got to ease back into walking with him. In his therapies we have been focusing on upper body and trunk movement because his last set of braces where too small and the last round of Botox has totally worn off. But now that we have his new DAFO's (ankle braces) and the swash we can get back at walking.
Yesterday we went back in for Phoenix's 6 month eye check up. Last time the doctor said that he is a little more farsighted then "normal" that we would wait to see if it improves in 6 months. Well it didn't improve so he got fitted for his first set of glasses. We pick them up next week. She said that he will not need them for life, that sometimes it just takes kids a little longer for there sight to straighten out. Makes me feel better, and the rx for them isn't horribly strong its just to help him out when he has his therapies to help him focus and not have to work as hard. Lets just hope that he will keep them on! I'm so going to get a strap for the back and I'm sure he's going to brake them at least once. Thank goodness for the 12 month guarantee.
